"Fifteen Minutes with You"

Klaus Von Nichtssagend
2005-07-01

Performance based summer shows are hard to come by when they are usually end of season fillers. Klaus Von Nichts-sagend has 4 performance based installations. Mirror Mirror, a collaborative team, has created a bizarre alter of various symmetries in the gallery around a series of surreal ‘commercials’. In one short, mirrored kittens spin around the screen, echoing the overall cartoon like installation of half-moons, stars, and inverted hearts. The artists will perform music from the videos on July 8th. Peter Simensky’s installation about creating bio- diesel out of fryer waste is perhaps the most realized work in the show with a critique of the Bush Administration’s energy policy. Simensky’s performance involved deep frying french fries made in the gallery. The resulting ‘waste’ can be converted into bio-diesel fuel by following the instructions on the complimentary napkins. Marcos Rosales performance is not suggested by his drawing in the show, and Anna Tanner’s installation will be completed for her performance on July 15th. In a season of massive group shows there is a pleasant intimacy to this one.
