Artist couple, Lori Ellison and Lars (Lawrence) Swan are presented together in this intimate exhibition. Since arriving in New York, Ellison has pursued a style of miniature, obsessively detailed abstraction, mostly painted on wood panels. Her work has been exhibited nationally and reviewed in the New York Times by Roberta Smith. Lars Swan has created an online comic titled "Art Bum" and maintains New Clean Blog. Humble means and deadpan wit are useful tools for Swan's investigations of color and sculptural interventions of the picture plane. Employing that most derided of art products, commercially produced canvas boards, Swan cuts, strips and bends sections of these boards into geometric, origami-like objects that recall Russian Constructivist wall sculpture.
